Three more die from COVID-19 in Hopkins County

Three more people have died from COVID-19 in Hopkins County.

Hopkins County Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield announced during the Tuesday morning briefing that 16 people have now died from the virus there.

Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton said one resident lost their mother and father to COVID-19 on consecutive days.

Hopkins County resident and local teacher Sharon Tyson told the story of losing her own father to the virus and asked Kentuckians to take the warnings and requests for social distancing serious.

Hopkins County School System Superintendent Deanna Ashby told the community they are looking at finding alternate plans for graduation and prom, even if it has to happen later in the year.

There was only one new confirmed case of COVID-19 from Monday to Tuesday in Hopkins County, bringing the total to 157.
