This is National Library Week

This is National Library Week and the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is commemorating the occasion, despite being closed by the COVID-19 concerns.

This year’s theme, “Find the library at your place” highlights how libraries are offering virtual services and digital content their communities need now more than ever due to the national pandemic crisis.

A news release says the local library is following all COVID-19 requirements by utilizing and rotating staff members each week and working limited hours each day to create virtual programs, clean and shelve books and complete special projects during the closure.

Executive Director DeeAnna Sova says, “Even during the closure, the library staff is hard at work continuing to order books, materials and to plan programs that the community will use for free once we reopen. The staff has been active creating virtual content for children and adults and ensuring that the books have been sanitized, shelved and are ready for patrons when we open to the public.”

Staff have created a virtual library week celebration and have invited the community to follow along through social media and participate by sharing their own posting each day of a different activity.

You can interact with the library this week on the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library Facebook page.
