Major League Baseball is offering financial relief to each of its 30 clubs. The Athletic reports commissioner Rob Manfred will inform teams today that Uniform Employee Contracts will be suspended. That will allow teams to furlough employees or reduce their pay starting next month.
Free agent outfielder Yasiel Puig says he’s been in contact with several teams, including the Miami Marlins. Despite currently being in Miami helping front line health care workers through his Wild Horse Foundation, Puig told media outlets over the weekend that he turned down the offer from the Marlins. Puig spent last season with both the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians hitting a combined .267 with 24 home runs, 84 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases and was still unsigned when MLB postponed the start of Opening Day.
