Local students named 2020 Governor’s Scholars

Many local students are celebrating being named as 2020 Governor’s Scholars and have been selected to take part in the Governor’s Scholars program.

Hopkinsville High School students Calvin Demps, Averie Turner, Tyler Kinney, Mara Howell and Jared Martin have all claimed spots in the program.  At Christian County High School, Shanan Fowler, Madeline Gibson, T’Khiyah Trice-Wilford and John Willis took the title of Governor’s Scholars.

University Heights Academy had three students qualify—Rohan Desai, Palak Patel and Beth Peebles. Heritage Christian Academy’s Elizabeth Pitts and Luke Bottoms were also named as Governor’s Scholars.

At Todd County Central High School, Julia Martin claimed a spot in the program. The Governor’s Scholars Program is a summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors. In order to take part, students must be nominated by their high schools and then compete at a state-wide level.
