Funds for road projects uncertain with loss of revenue

The 2020 session of the Kentucky General Assembly concluded Wednesday night and local legislators will discuss the session and the ongoing pandemic Sunday morning on Lite Rock 98.7.

The final road plan includes early stages of upgrading the Pennyrile Parkway interchange at the MLK Bypass to interstate standards and several other projects of local interest, but Representative Walker Thomas says it remains to be seen what can be afforded with revenue from the gas tax so low when few people are driving anywhere.

Robust testing for COVID-19 was one of the parameters outlined by Governor Andy Beshear and the president for reopening the economy and Representative Myron Dossett says he’d like to see the Breathitt Veterinary Center diagnostic lab in Hopkinsville used for human purposes during these unusual times.

Our legislative wrap-up program will air at 9 on Lite Rock 98.7 and online at lite987whop.com.
