Library, Boys and Girls Club team up to create face mask extenders

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library and the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville are teaming up to help out area essential workers during the COVID-19 crisis.

According to a news release, the two agencies will be creating face mask ‘extenders’, to help relieve the constant pressure the masks cause to a wearer’s ears. Operations Director Tiffany Luna obtained a template for the mask extenders and started printing the plastic items with the libraries 3D printer last week. Organizations began contacting the library asking for extenders on their staff’s behalf.

The library then reached out to the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville to see if they would help, and they jumped at the chance.  Director Terrence Davis says, “This community does a lot for The Boys & Girls Club. We are honored to return the favor.”

If there are essential businesses, either in the healthcare industry or other front line essential organizations, which would benefit from these mask extenders, email Library Director Deanna Sova.
