The Chicago Cubs are mourning the passing of former player Glenn Beckert. The four-time All-Star and one-time National League Gold Glove winner died yesterday morning in Florida at the age of 79. Beckert was a staple at second base for the Cubs in the late 60’s. He spent nine seasons with Chicago, hitting .283 with 194 doubles and 353 RBIs.
Major League Baseball continues to work out plans to start the 2020 season at spring training complexes in Florida and Arizona. One of several options on the table for a shortened MLB season would see teams forgoing their regular American and National League positions to play against teams in either the Florida-based Grapefruit League or Arizona-based Cactus League.
