Dispatchers honored in National Telecommunicators Week

This is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and emergency dispatchers are being honored for their life-saving work.

Kentucky State Trooper Corey King says without dispatchers, law enforcement, fire and EMS wouldn’t be able to do their jobs.

For police officers and troopers, King says it’s the dispatcher who gives them the information they need to stay as safe as possible on any given call.

Trooper King says it’s becoming harder for KSP to find dispatchers and they’re hiring.

The Hopkinsville Police Department noted on social media Monday that dispatchers are the “first first responders” and they dedicate their lives to serving the public behind the scenes.

Todd County Dispatch is telling the community that if they see a dispatcher this week, let them know you appreciate them and thank them for what they do.
