Woman who lived through 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic recovers from COVID-19 in Hopkins County

Hopkins County has 10 new cases of COVID-19 since Saturday and a woman who lived through the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic has recovered from the coronavirus.

Public Health Director Denise Beach says a 103-year old woman has made a full recovery after contracting the virus.

The bad news is two long-term facilities with COVID-19 cases, including one that has 13 patients and five staff members with the virus.

Hopkins County has 94 total cases and 40 patients have made full recoveries.

Beach stressed it’s going to take avoidance of crowds, social distancing and frequent hand washing to slow the spread of the virus in Hopkins County.
