Todd County Fiscal Court heard updates on COVID-19 response and exited a sub-lease agreement with the school system on the tech center during a virtual meeting Friday morning.
Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith says he’s working closely with the Todd County Health Department and their supply of necessary personal protection and medical equipment is good for now.
He says the health department has been working with local clinics and the nursing home to be sure they have what they need to keep everyone safe.
County Attorney Jeff Traughber says he hasn’t had to get involved in many cases of individuals or businesses not complying with social distancing orders handed down by the state and local governments.
Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield urged magistrates to be on the lookout for any potential social gatherings this weekend, whether that be in parks, in a church or elsewhere.
Magistrates unanimously approved action to exit a sub-lease with the Todd County Board of Education, bringing control of the tech center on the campus of Todd Central High School back to fiscal court.
Judge Mansfield says that sub-lease agreement was made with former superintendent Ed Oyler and he’s no longer there and we now live in a new reality. The judge says everyone involved hopes to see that building used for making students career-ready in the future and all parties involved will work toward that end.
Jailer Jeff Penick says they’re working hard to prevent the virus from getting into the jail and those steps include inmates no longer doing work details in the community for the foreseeable future.
