NCAA to talk one time transfer waiver & XFL shuts down

ESPN reports the NCAA is expected to discuss and vote on a one time transfer proposal. The NCAA Division I Council is expected to talk about the measure April 24th and vote May 20th. If passed, the waiver would go into effect immediately, granting all first time transfers eligibility for the 2020-21 season. This could have a huge impact on basketball players in the NCAA transfer portal. There are currently 746 total, with 181 classified as graduate transfers and 565 who would normally have to sit out a year getting the chance to compete next season.

The XFL has shut down its entire operation. ESPN reports the league laid off nearly its entire staff and has no plans to return for 2021. The league canceled its season last month after five games as part of a nationwide shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, pledging to return next year. The XFL is owned by WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, who was making his second foray into professional football. His rowdy 2001 version of the XFL also folded after one year.
