Alcohol suspected as factor in crashes on US 68

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in a pair of crashes Friday afternoon on US 68 in Todd County.

Elkton police received a call of a hit and run collision about 1:30 and were told that a dark-colored Dodge pickup had side-swiped another vehicle and then continued heading west toward Hopkinsville.

While attempting to catch up to the pickup, officers and Todd County sheriff’s deputies were told the truck was traveling into and out of the grass median.

Police located the truck off of the roadway with damage and investigation determined 31-year old Matthew Davidson of Pembroke had over-corrected after entering the median and went off the right side of the road.

His truck overturned approximately five times, ejecting Davidson.

Todd County EMS transported Davidson to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incidents and Davidson is charged with his third DUI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and other offenses.

The investigation continues by Elkton police, with the assistance of the Todd County Sheriff’s Department.

The Elkton Fire Department and Todd County Rescue assisted at the scene.
