Kentucky experienced its largest single day increase in new COVID-19 cases from Thursday to Friday and 11 more patients have died.
There are 242 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 1,693. An 80-year old male from Hopkins County was one of 11 new deaths, marking 90 fatalities since the pandemic began.
Governor Andy Beshear also gave an update on Western State Hospital Friday afternoon, noting three new cases—two patients and a staff member.
The Green River Correctional Complex in Muhlenberg County has had three more inmates test positive, bringing the overall total there to 13 inmates and seven staff members.
Governor Beshear says there are only about seven churches who still intend to have in-person services for Easter Sunday and he says law enforcement will get the license plate numbers of all who do attend any mass gathering and their local health departments will be coming to their home after ordering a 14-day quarantine.
The governor says social distancing, increased health care capacity and increased testing are keys for Kentucky in the coming weeks. Additional personal protective equipment will be necessary for testing and health care capacity and Governor Beshear again asked Kentuckians to call 833-GIVE-PPE if they have equipment to donate.
Tennessee is up to 4,862 total cases, including 84 in Montgomery, 73 in Robertson and three in Stewart County. There have been 98 deaths in Tennessee and 1,145 have recovered.
