Six new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Christian County and six more people have recovered.
Amanda Sweeney of the Christian County Health Department reported 62 total cases during the regular Friday afternoon news conference—40 of those are active, 19 have recovered and there have been three deaths. Three of the cases have been pediatric, 36 have been young adults between 22 and 59-years old, 20 are adults between 60 and 84 and three have been 85 years old and up.
Sweeney says she knows there’s some confusion about when to self-isolate, but she clarified that if you live with someone who is being tested, you need to isolate as well.
Sweeney says some churches plan to have drive-in services Sunday, but reminded them to follow the governor’s guidance to not get out of their vehicles and to park at least six feet apart. She urged people to also not get together for Easter egg hunts.
Jennie Stuart Health CEO Eric Lee says there are six patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 admitted at the hospital and five are those are in the intensive care unit. There are eight additional patients with coronavirus symptoms admitted who are awaiting test results.
The Christian County Health Department and Emergency Management will continue to host live updates about COVID-19 locally on Tuesdays and Fridays at 3:30 p.m. and provide daily updates on the CCHD Facebook page. As always, Sweeney reminded people to continue practicing social distancing guidelines and maintain frequent and thorough hand washing.
