A lot of Americans have been hit hard by the coronavirus, but what about professional athletes? Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum tells ESPN he believes about a third of NBA players live paycheck-to-paycheck. That would mean about 150 of the league’s 450 players.
The NBA is expecting players to take a hefty pay cut since they aren’t actually playing. The Athletic reports the league wants players to take a 50-percent pay cut, while the players’ union countered with just a 25-percent reduction. No agreement has come forward yet.
