Boys and Girls Club continuing to feed, serve local youth

The Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville is continuing to serve their multitudes of young members even in the face of COVID-19 and although the club is currently closed.

According to a news release, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hopkinsville-Christian County is continuing to provide services to Boys and Girls Club families. The club is currently closed in accordance with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, along city and state government to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

In the meantime, the club is providing over 700 meals and snacks throughout the week to the families of members and there is virtual programming available known as the “Club Away From Club”. Programs will be available Monday through Thursday in time blocks scheduled throughout the morning and afternoon. The interactive classes will include STEM, tutoring, art, dance and martial arts.

Executive Director Terrence Davis says, “Although our members can’t physically be in our building, it is important that we continue to support our Club members and their families. Our mission says that we are to serve youth that need us most and I cannot think of another time when our kids need us more than right now.”
