A Hopkinsville student has been named a candidate to be a 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholar.
Hopkinsville High School graduating senior and Gatton Academy student J. B. Morse II is one of seven Gatton Academy students selected as a candidate. According to a news release, approximately 600 candidates will be named semifinalists from here, and then up to 161 students will be recognized in May as Presidential Scholars.
More than 4,500 candidates are identified each year for the program that focuses on academic achievement and based on having scored exceptionally well on the SAT or the ACT.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 to recognize and honor some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.
