2020 British Open cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns

The Royal and Ancient Golf Club announced today due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they have decided to cancel this year’s British Open championship. The event, which was scheduled to take place July 16-19 at Royal St. George’s will be played next July at Royal St. George’s.

R&A chief Martin Slumbers said in a news release: “At a difficult time like this we have to recognize that sport must stand aside to let people focus on keeping themselves and their families healthy and safe.” The Open is the first of the four majors to cancel its event for this year.
