An investigation on South Clay Street early Monday morning led to the arrest of a woman on strangulation and assault charges.
An arrest citation for 29-year old Stephanie Brown of Hopkinsville alleges she assaulted a female victim and held her down by her throat, scratching her on the neck in the process.
The victim was not able to breathe during the assault and Brown allegedly threw her cell phone so she couldn’t call for help.
Brown is charged with first-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault, intimidating a participant in a legal process and second-degree criminal mischief.
Police say she damaged a window in the rear of the cruiser on the way to jail.
