Further restrictions on court proceedings set down, extended to May 1

Kentucky district and circuit court dockets will continue to be restricted until at least May 1, following amended orders from Chief Justice John Minton Wednesday.

The order expands on restrictions already set down due to the impact of COVID-19 across the state, including that all judicial facilities will be closed to in-person services.  Only attorneys and parties that are required to attend emergency, in-person hearings will be allowed in the building.  Individuals needing to post bond, make payments on court costs or other items, are advised to call the local clerk’s office for further instruction.

Most in-person hearings for individuals who are not incarcerated have been continued until a later date following Chief Justice Minton’s initial order on March 17.

In those limited circumstances requiring an in-person hearing, courtroom attendance shall be limited to attorneys, parties, necessary witnesses, and domestic violence advocates. No more than 10 people may be in the courtroom at any time.

All driver’s license services are suspended until further notice—the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has already extend expirations dates on licenses by 90 days.
