The NHL is investigating options that could keep teams on the ice into late August for the Stanley Cup finals. The NHL is exploring possibilities that include playing without fans and keeping arena dates open in July and August. There also have been discussions of making some playoff series best-of-five, instead of seven. With the Olympics postponed until 2021, NBC has a lot of air time to fill.
