Ky. reports 114 new COVID-19 cases

Kentucky saw its largest single-day jump in new cases of COVID-19 and seven more Kentuckians have died from the virus.

There are 114 new cases, bringing the total to 591 across the commonwealth. The people who died had other underlying medical issues, but ones the governor says they could have managed from day-to-day in the absence of the virus.

In the way of new action, Governor Andy Beshear has expanded the exceptions for child care facilities to be able to care for children of grocery store workers.

He’s also signed an order allowing law enforcement agencies and fire departments the ability to hire recently retired first responders without them being penalized on their retirement.

The governor says don’t have a yard sale during the pandemic, describing those as ideal locations for the virus to spread.

Governor Beshear acknowledged it was a tough day for Kentucky, but says social distancing, frequent hand washing and following all of the guidelines set by state and federal health officials will flatten the curve and reduce the number of people who become sick.

Tennessee is up to 2,239 cases, including 19 in Montgomery County and 28 in Robertson. There have been 23 COVID-19 fatalities in Tennessee.
