General Assembly set to hear budget Wednesday

The Kentucky General Assembly is set to return to Frankfort Wednesday to approve a budget, but it’s likely revenue lost in this time of staying at home will require a special session later this year.

Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County says the budget conference committee is still working on ironing out a compromise between the House and Senate and the plan is to get the budget done this week with time left to override any potential vetoes by Governor Andy Beshear.

Representative Myron Dossett says state government will suffer revenue losses in multiple ways.

Representative Walker Thomas says it’s possible lawmakers will have to come back in a few months.
