After 44 years, Chadwell works final day at WHOP

After nearly 44 years of service at WHOP, General Manager Mike Chadwell came to work for the final time Friday as he enters retirement.

Chadwell arrived at WHOP in August of 1976 and served as sports director, sales manager and in numerous other capacities before becoming general manager in 2005. He was the voice of Hopkinsville High School Tiger basketball and football for about 20 years.

Chadwell says he leaves the station with mixed emotions, knowing WHOP has been such a large part of his life.

Plans to travel in retirement will have to be put off for the time being with current events, but Chadwell says he has plenty to get done around the house.

Most of all, Chadwell expressed his gratitude to the countless people he’s worked with and to the advertisers and listeners who have made his long career at WHOP possible.

Another WHOP veteran, Jeff Sisk, will take over as the sixth general manager in the 80-year history of WHOP.
