Today would have been MLB’s Opening Day

Today would have marked the start of the MLB season, but like everything else, it’s on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Cincinnati Reds would have opened the season hosting the St. Louis Cardinals, however, there will be baseball on the radio today as the Reds welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2019 season opener, the last called by Reds Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman. Coverage begins at 3 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred says baseball will be back whenever it’s safe to play. He said on ESPN last night that baseball will part of the recovery and healing process and is hopeful the league can begin preparing for a season at some point in May.
