Several arrested after early morning traffic stop

A traffic stop of a vehicle with eight people inside early Thursday morning led to multiple arrests.

A 14-year old was driving the vehicle and was stopped for careless driving just before 2:30 a.m. at Campbell and Fourth Street, according to a Hopkinsville police report, which says there was an odor of marijuana coming from the automobile that is only mean to safely sit five people.

A search allegedly revealed a gun that had been reported stolen hidden under a seat. A passenger, 18-year old Walter Mumford of Hopkinsville, claimed ownership and admitted to trying to hide it. He was arrested for receiving a stolen firearm, tampering with evidence and unlawful transaction with a minor.

Three other adults in the car—21-year old Savannah Acker of Lafayette, 18-year old Fredrick Reeves of Hopkinsville and 28-year old Brittany Drounett of Hopkinsville—were all arrested for unlawful transaction with a minor.
