Gov. Beshear gives Friday afternoon update

There are now 63 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kentucky, up 16 from Thursday.

Governor Andy Beshear said during his news conference Friday that additional cases have been expected, but that Kentucky will get through this pandemic.

Two of the new cases are females in Warren and Henderson counties and most are in Jefferson.

Governor Beshear says he’s asking all Kentucky public and private schools to continue their virtual learning at home through at least April 20.

Kentucky is joining the federal government in extending the tax filing deadline until July 15.

He says there’s no excuse for anyone to convene a crowd during this time of social distancing and while most funeral homes have complied with requests for small services with a few family members and friends, there are a couple holdouts he hopes to see them change their ways this weekend.

The most important message continues to be social distancing, good hygiene and frequent handwashing to keep you and your loved ones healthy.
