The Hopkinsville-Christian County YMCA has received exemption status to serve as a childcare facility for the children of first-responders, healthcare workers and more.
Appearing on WHOP Friday, YMCA President and CEO Sheryl Ellis says the emergency childcare exemption will let them watch the children of first-responders, corrections officers, DCBS workers and healthcare workers. She says YMCA’s across the state are starting this program, and parents must bring paperwork showing their status.
She says the hours for the daycare—for ages 6 weeks to 12 years old—will be from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and they will try to extend those hours if needed.
The cost is $30 a day or $150 a week and Ellis says parents can register per-day. Registration can be filed online at Hopkinsville-YMCA dot org. Ellis says the YMCA is also continuing their feeding program both from the campus and on mobile units out into the community.
