Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander is on the mend after right groin surgery. General Manager James Click says the 37-year-old had the procedure yesterday and will be sidelined for about six weeks. Verlander will have time to heal before the start of the season. MLB has pushed back Opening Day until at least mid-May due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A second New York Yankees minor leaguer has tested positive for the new coronavirus. The player, while in self-quarantine, reported fatigue and an elevated temperature to medical personnel with the Yankees, according to the team. The player was tested Sunday and returned to self-quarantine after the positive result.
