Hopkinsville Fire and EMS is taking precautions to protect their employees, the patients and the public as the country faces the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Steve Futrell says many of the precautions taken by EMS crews are the same or similar to steps they’d take when assisting a patient with the flu.
He says they continue to educate their staff on what to look for and how to proceed when responding to a patient who may have coronavirus.
If they are transporting a patient who is showing symptoms with COVID-19, the ambulance will contact Jennie Stuart Medical Center so the hospital can make arrangements to protect their staff and other patients.
There have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Christian, Todd or Trigg counties.
