Korey Zivotin, the juvenile who recently entered a guilty plea to his role in the Bethel Street attempted robbery that ended with one man dead and another injured, was final sentenced in Christian Circuit Court Tuesday.
The 16-year old Zivotin pled guilty to second-degree assault and first-degree robbery—he reportedly shot Dylan Stewart in the leg during the robbery. Circuit Judge John Atkins told Zivotin he had considered probation, due to his youth, but in the end decided that imprisonment was the appropriate action.
Zivotin was sentenced to 15 years in prison and he must serve at least 85 percent of that to become parole eligible.
Zivotin’s co-defendants in the case—James Yates, Lane Carter, Tia Ochs and Madison Wilson—have also pled guilty to various charges in the case. Shakkory Willis, who is charged with murder in the shooting death of Corvyan Thomas that occurred during the crime, is the only one who has not accepted a plea deal. All of the co-defendants have agreed to testify at a trial for Willis, should it make it that far.
