Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center in critical need of donations

The spread of COVID-19 is impacting the lives of everyone, businesses and citizens, in numerous was, and the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center is putting out a cry for donations.

According to a news release, the need for healthy blood donations is higher than ever during the outbreak, but due to closures and the need for social distancing, many blood drives have been cancelled.  Officials say U.S. is on the verge of a serious blood shortage that will lead to blood rationing and triage resulting in canceled elective surgeries and worse, a lack of blood for ongoing support of patients who rely on the generosity of donors every day.

The center in Hopkinsville will be open Monday through Thursday on South Virginia Street.  For more information about donating blood safely, call 888-684-9296.
