CCHD offers guidance for religious services

The Christian County Health Department is giving guidance on ways to stay healthy if your church is having services this Sunday and you choose to attend.

An email from the health department notes that in following with the Commissioner of Public Health’s recommendation, Christian County Health Department strongly recommends churches not to hold services this weekend.

People should not attend church if they have a cough, fever, if they are over 60-years old, or if you have a serious health condition or compromised immune system.

If you do go to church the health department advises refraining from shaking hands or hugging. Churches should have attendees bring their tithes and offerings to a donation bin instead of passing around a plate, hand sanitizer should be available in multiple areas of the building and heavily touched surfaces should be washed down.

Attendees should sit at least six feet apart to practice social distancing and wash their hands after church and before eating lunch.

At least two of the coronavirus patients in Harrison County contracted the illness at church, according to Governor Andy Beshear.
