A Christian County Grand Jury returned multiple indictments Friday, including for assault, kidnapping and abuse.
Indicted for two counts of third-degree sodomy, four counts of third-degree rape, unlawful transaction with a minor, two counts of illegal sexual activity with a victim under 18 and trafficking in cocaine is Earl Caldwell of Hopkinsville. Caldwell allegedly arranged to meet a 17-year old female and a 16-year old female at the Rodeway Inn to engage in sexual activity in exchange for money and that he provided both girls with alcohol.
The warrant specifies that the two counts of third-degree rape come from the 16-year old juvenile consenting to sex two times in exchange for money. Police say the 17-year old victim was physically helpless due to intoxication and was incapable of giving consent to any form of sexual activity.
Indicted for two counts of second-degree criminal abuse and terroristic threatening is 37-year old Tiffany Morris. She is alleged to have assaulted her adult son while riding in a vehicle, forcing him to pull over. Police found Morris walking down the middle of the unlit street with an infant in a car seat and a toddler. An arrest citation says the temperature was 32 degrees and light snow was falling. Morris reportedly had slurred speech and was unstable on her feet. Police say the children were placed in extreme danger by Morris’ actions. She also allegedly became combative with officers.
Indicted for first-degree assault is 37-year old Travis Mayes of Cadiz, who is alleged to have shot Darrell Bateman in the abdomen on East Second Street causing injuries that sent him by Air Evac to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
