Kiwanis Club hears about the impact of Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center

The Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville heard from the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center at Thursday’s meeting and heard about what the agency is doing to improve the lives of children in the community.

These children have been victims of physical and sexual abuse in the nine counties that the center covers.  Director Candra Barnett says the agency focuses on providing interviews and care for children involved in abuse cases.

She says on average they see approximately 300 cases a year, and that’s not counting the ones who will receive services outside of those cases.

Director Barnett says you can help by donating to the cause—they’ll have a breakfast fundraiser April 21 that is free to attend and the public is invited.

The agency is funded by government grants through the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, receives federal grants through the Victims of Crime Act and they are a United Way of the Pennyrile partner.  For more information on how to get involved with the agency, call 270-881-1111.
