Coronavirus affecting pro sports teams and games

The Coronavirus which was declared as a pandemic today has forced several professional sports teams to make some changes regarding home games. Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners announced today the ban on gatherings of more than 250 people in King County affects games that were scheduled at T-Mobile Park through the end of this month. The Mariners were scheduled to open the season at home on March 26th with a four game series against the Texas Rangers.

The San Francisco Giants also announced today they will not host their annual exhibition game with the Oakland A’s at Oracle Park on March 24th according to the San Francisco Chronicle because of the city’s ban on gatherings of one thousand or more people due to Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the NBA’s Golden State Warriors will play Thursday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets with no fans inside the Chase Center. Following Thursday’s game, the Warriors are away from the Chase Center until March 25. The NBA is also discussing moving games from cities under bans from having gatherings to other cities that have no issues to Coronavirus and are even possibly looking at suspending games for a period of time.

Also, the College Basketball Insiders tournament for teams who don’t make the NCAA tournament has also been cancelled due to concerns over Coronavirus.
