Federal, local officials talk coronavirus

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is hopeful members of both parties in Washington D.C. can work together in response to the coronavirus, while local officials are saying multiple agencies are working together to be prepared.

Senator McConnell spoke on the floor Tuesday, urging citizens to go to the federal website for the COVID-19 response at coronavirus.gov.

He urged Democrats and Republicans to work with the administration to find ways to stimulate an economy that’s suffering.

The president has talked about possible tax cuts and other measures to help hourly workers.

Meanwhile, Jennie Stuart Health and the Christian County Health Department issued a joint statement saying they, “will continue to work with community partners to provide up-to-date guidance on the illness as time progresses.”

Health Department Director Kayla Bebout says, “Today, the risk for our citizens in Christian County remains low, but we will continue to monitor our situation daily. We encourage residents to take proactive measures in protecting themselves from illnesses.”

She encourages residents to monitor the Christian County Health Department Facebook page and the state website at kycovid19.ky.gov.
