Public library hosting ‘family fort night’ event

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is gearing up for its first ever, after hours ‘family fort night’ and the public is invited to attend.

According to a news release, it will take place March 13 starting at 7 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear pajamas, bring blankets, flash lights and pillows, and create blanket forts the old fashion way. There will be limited materials available for those who are unable to bring supplies. This is a free event for families, a library card is not required, and pre-registration is not necessary.

Youth Services Librarian Jennifer Annis-Domenech says, “Ultimately, the goal is to promote family literacy and to encourage families to spend time together. We look forward to having Christian County families read with us.”

The Youth Services Department continues to see growth in all ages from toddlers to teens, averaging more than 450 attendees each month at programs for all age groups.
