Seven apply for Ward Six city council seat

Seven people have submitted applications to fill the Ward Six Hopkinsville City Council seat that was left vacant when former councilman Wendell Lynch was chosen to serve as interim mayor.

City Clerk Crissy Fletcher listed those applicants as Christopher Dudley, Kenneth Hatzakorzian, Paula Knight, Travis Martin, Mary Martins, Bernard Standard and Gregory Watkins.

Each candidate will be interviewed during the March 17 Hopkinsville City Council meeting and the chosen applicant will be sworn in and take his or her seat that night.

Hatzakorzian and Knight are currently running for the Democratic nomination for the seat and Martin is running as a Republican.
