The Tennessee Department of Health is confirming the first case of the Coronavirus in the state.
Tennessee Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey said Thursday a man from Williamson County is infected with the virus. Williamson County is just south of Nashville. Piercey says the man has mild symptoms and is isolated at home. She added that the patient returned four-to-five days ago from out-of-state travel, but they didn’t travel internationally.
Governor Bill Lee says Tennessee has been preparing to deal with the virus and residents can be assured they are ready.
He reminded Tennesseans to keep the lone case of Coronavirus in perspective.
Piercey echoed the governor’s thoughts and says Tennessee is prepared.
She says the threat to the general public from the virus is low. Officials are compiling a list of people who may have been in contact with him.
There have been no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Kentucky.
