Trial date set for man accused of sexual abuse on church bus

A trial date was set Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court for a man accused of sexually abusing a juvenile female on a church bus on Easter Sunday of last year.

Attorney Sands Chewning represents 28-year old Tyler Frances and agreed with Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jerad Smith and Judge John Atkins to set a July 2 trial date. The trial is expected to take two days.

Investigation by Hopkinsville police led to the first-degree sexual abuse charge after the alleged victim said Frances ripped off her underwear and inappropriately touched her private areas while both were riding the church bus. Frances was not an employee or affiliated with the church and has pled not guilty in the case.
