For the 10th time this season, Austin Peay’s Jordyn Adams has been named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week. The Silsbee, TX native averaged 21.0 points & 4.0 rebounds in a win over Morehead State and a loss to Murray State last week. The Governors await the winner of the Eastern Illinois-Jacksonville State game at the OVC tournament in Evansville’s Ford Center Thursday night.
On the women’s side, Austin Peay’s Ella Sawyer won her first Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honor. The Australian averaged 23.5 points in two games last week, wins over Morehead State and Murray State. Austin Peay begins play in the OVC tournament against Belmont at 3 pm Wednesday.
Murray State’s Laci Hawthorne was named the OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week. Hawthorne averaged 14 points in a win over Eastern Kentucky and a loss to Austin Peay. The Racers open play in the OVC tournament Wednesday meeting UT Martin at 1 pm.
