Arrest made in Cadiz arsons

Cadiz police have arrested a man for arson after he allegedly admitted to setting two house fires Sunday night and Monday morning.

Officers were called to 85 Perry Street at 11:24 p.m. and found the vacant home fully involved, according to Chief Duncan Wiggins. Firefighters arrived within minutes and were then called to a separate fire at 140 Line Street just before 12:30 a.m.

Officer Colton Livingston was investigating the second fire and arrested 40-year old Michael Davis of Cadiz for possession of methamphetamine and for giving officers a false name.  Police say that during an interview, he admitted to setting both fires.

He was additionally charged with two counts of second-degree arson.

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.
