One injured in South Virginia sideswipe collision

The Hopkinsville Police Department has investigated a wreck that occurred Thursday morning on South Virginia Street that sent a woman to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

According to the police report, the wrecked happened near Midtown Medical Center on South Virginia Street around 10 a.m. Investigation determined that vehicle driven by 32-year old Brian Higgins of Cadiz was traveling northbound on South Virginia looking for a medical building but was unsure of where it was located.

A second car, operated by Rasmiben Parmar of Hopkinsville, was also traveling northbound in the left hand lane, starting to pass Higgins.  Higgins reportedly stated he did not see Parmar in his blind spot and started to merge into the left hand lane.  The two collided, causing Parmar’s vehicle to roll onto its side, and she was able to crawl out of the back window.

No one in Higgins vehicle complained of any injuries, but Parmar was treated by EMS on scene and later went by private vehicle to Jennie Stuart.  Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
