Christian County wins 8th District boys title

For the first time since 2016, Christian County is the champion of the 8th district, downing University Heights 81-59. The game was back and forth for three quarters with 28 lead changes and 11 ties with the Colonels leading the Blazers 54-53 at the end of the third period. Christian County then went on an 18-2 run to start the fourth quarter and get the victory.

Mikeon Mathis led the Colonels with 23 poitns with Olajawon White adding 15 and Stephan Bussell and Kobe Dillard each scoring 13 as the Colonels improved to 12-18.

University Heights was led in scoring by KJ Crump with 19, Amari McGee added 14 and DJ Quarles had 12 first half points as the Blazers fell to 15-13.

Both teams will play in the 2nd region tournament next week at Hopkinsville High’s Tiger Gym. Pairings will be announced Saturday morning.
