A pursuit of a stolen van late Tuesday night ended with the arrest of the driver on multiple charges.
Hopkinsville police were given the description of a white van reported stolen out of McCracken County and Officer Jeremy Davidson located it at South Main and East 20th Street.
He was able to verify it was the stolen vehicle by the registration tag and he attempted a traffic stop. The driver, 44-year old Timothy Wharton of Owensboro, did not stop and made his way to Canton Street and then Pyle Lane after disregarding a red light at Country Club Lane.
Poilce say he disregarded the stop sign at Pyle and Millbrooke and didn’t stop before turning right onto Cox Mill Road.
The pursuit came to an end when a Christian County sheriff’s deputy used a pit maneuver to bring the van to a stop at Cox Mill Road and Gary Lane.
Wharton was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property ($10,000 or more), fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief and traffic violations.
