Christian County got a visit from Amy McGrath, one of the democrats looking to challenge Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in 2020.
McGrath has been considered the democratic front runner for some time and made a stop in Hopkinsville Saturday morning at the African-American Heritage Breakfast. Speaking with WHOP News, McGrath highlighted her military career and policies as just a couple of the differences between her and McConnell.
She says she intends to focus on creating jobs with livable wages so people can start thriving instead of just surviving.
McGrath says while she’s traveling around Kentucky, one of the biggest concerns brought to her by citizens is about healthcare and the cost of prescription drugs, which she intends to do something about.
She says the biggest difference between her and McConnell is she will put country before politics.
McGrath is facing Representative Charles Booker in the May primary, along with a slew of other democratic opponents. The winner will likely go on to face McConnell in the November general election.
