Lynch to be sworn in as mayor Sunday

Hopkinsville City Councilman Wendell Lynch will be officially sworn in as the 27th mayor of Hopkinsville Sunday afternoon.

The swearing-in is set for 2 p.m. at the War Memorial Building, with the public invited to attend and a reception to follow. The oath will be administered by Lynch’s brother—retired Christian District Judge Arnold Lynch.

Lynch was chosen by council to serve as presiding officer following the resignation of former mayor Carter Hendricks and council approved a municipal order to make him interim mayor at a recent meeting.

He has represented Ward 6 on council since 2014 and will serve as mayor until someone is elected to fill out the remainder of Hendricks’ term in the November general election.
