Two suspects arrested by Elkton police on burglary and methamphetamine charges in January have been indicted by a Todd County grand jury.
An indictment for first-degree burglary and several meth possession-related charges was returned against Steven Stewart of Clarksville and an indictment for second-degree burglary and meth possession charges was returned against Cassidy Herd of Elkton.
Both suspects were inside a vacant home on Duke Street when an Elkton police officer and Todd County sheriff’s deputy were called to that location last month. Police said they had a substantial amount of meth and that Stewart had a gun. Both are also indicted for tampering with evidence.
In other action, the grand jury indicted Casey Schmidt for second-degree burglary, meth possession and criminal mischief for a separate incident. Cheryl Barnes was indicted for second-degree burglary, theft of a firearm and meth possession.
