Arrest made in shooting incident

An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting from Monday afternoon at East Second and South Vine Street.

Hopkinsville police arrested 37-year old Travis Mayes of Cadiz in Trigg County and served him with a warrant for first-degree assault.

It alleges he shot Derrell Bateman in the abdomen, causing injuries that sent him by Air Evac to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Officers responded to Second and Vine just after 2 p.m. and found Bateman lying in roadway, according to police.
